Learn more about Bear Mountain
Pros
- Home to Southern California’s only Superpipe!
- Take on the 2 mi Geronimo trail for a double black diamond leg burner
- The lift pass covers you to ski at nearby Snow Summit too
Cons
- Not the best mountain for traditional downhill skiers or families
Overall
If you want to ride park, Bear Mountain is the place. There's not a lot of steep terrain but the entire mountain is a terrain park and is snowboarder-heavy. It was even ranked number 2 in Transworld Snowboarding 2017 Park Poll. Nearby Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City offer an array of lodging, restaurants, and nightlife. Best of all, you can ski nearby Snow Summit on the same pass and you'd be hoping were born in winter because they give you a free lift ticket on your birthday!

Lots of park and decent mountain for being so close to San Diego. Good variety in terrain. Wouldn’t say the snow is the best since I started traveling but it’s a great local mountain and the town is quite large. Restaurants and bars are lively and it draws a good crowd.... Moreadvanced skier

The closest ski resort to San Diego. Awesome 2 hour drive and beautiful location at Big Bear Lake. Smaller mountain but really well organised runs. Great quality lifts and never had to wait long to ride. Easy parking to get straight on a lift.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Never too cold and always a blast. The BeachBar, perfectly placed to catch the scene while throwing a couple back and ravaging a delicious well needed meal. Highest... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Great place to go when conditions are right! Cold crisp sunny days that are perfect for active Southern Californians. You can ski this mountain but it caters to Snowboarders...I love this place! Great for the beginner to advanced skier or snowboarder.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Alright listen, Bear Mountain is like that mountain from OutCold the movie. It's an absolutely amazing mountain. Listen, enjoyment and fun fall from the heavens and clouds open and like it just snows Skittles and Snickers bars and alcohol is free. Listen, I'm desperate to win that Epic pass. I need this bad and I realize I keep saying listen and I... Moreintermediate snowboarder
