Monarch Mountain is a relatively smaller mountain with less crow and a laid-back vibe. The mountain received a significant amount of natural snowfall and the resort are very affordable compared to the other well-known resorts, making it appealing to skiers and snowboarders.

Monarch Mountain Lift Tickets

Monarch Mountain offers two types of lift tickets: Day lift tickets and Season Pass.

Day Lift Ticket

Monarch Mountain’s Day Lift Tickets can be purchased online up to midnight the night before arrival for a discounted price compared to the ticket office prices. Price can be various depending on the ski day. The ticket can be picked up at the automated Kiosk using the QR code on the confirmation email. Please print or save the code as wifi may not be available on the mountain. 

Super-Seniors ages 69+ and children under the age of 6 can ski free with the cost of an RFID card of $5.

Season Pass

The Season Pass offers unlimited access to Monarch Mountain throughout the ski season. With the pass, you can access 3 days at each Monarch partner resort excluding Child and Super-Senior passes. Note blackout dates may apply.

  • Additional Benefits: Discounted Buddy tickets, group and private lessons, on-mountain food and more.
  • Ideal for: If you are planning to ski a lot at Monarch Mountain and check out some other partner resort. 

Monarch Only Pass

The Monarch Only Pass is the same as the season pass except it gives you access to Monarch Mountain Only and on-mountain benefits do not apply to children. This pass is very limited and is recommended to purchase ahead of time.

Weekday Pass

The Weekday Pass gives you unlimited access to ski Monarch Mountain on week-day (Mon-Fri) throughout the ski season. It’s also valid to ski 3-days at Arapahoe Basin and Loveland.

  • Additional Benefits: Discounted Buddy tickets, group and private lessons, on-mountain food and more.
  • Ideal for: If you are planning to ski a lot on weekdays at Monarch Mountain.

Monarch Mountain Ski and Snowboard Lessons

Monarch Mountain Ski and Ride School offer both group and private lessons as well as ski programs. 

  • Group Lesson: This lesson is catered for a specific ability level for ages 3+. 
  • Private Lesson: This is a customized lesson for individuals, groups, or families. Lessons must be reserved in advance by calling (719) 530-5196. 
  • Programs: Multi-week programs are available for ages 3-16. There is also a Team Monarch program for ages 7-18 (for intermediate, advanced and Athletes) and a multi-week clinic for ages 16+ (for cruisers, steeps, racing, telemark, trees, moguls and more)  

Lesson spots are limited so it is recommended that you book early. Bookings open in the fall.

Nearest Town to Monarch Mountain

Salida is the closest town to Monarch Mountain, which is approximately 21 miles drive from the ski mountain. The town provides various restaurant options and shops. It's especially famous for its year-round outdoor activities due to its unique location near several mountain ranges.

On Mountain Dining

There are a handful of food options available in the day lodge.

Located at the base camp of the main lodge serving Mexican food including nacho and tacos.
