Learn more about Boreal Mountain
Overall
One of the closest ski resorts to San Francisco, Boreal Mountain is a mostly park/jibber mountain with extensive night skiing and home to Woodward Tahoe, a year-round playground. The extensive snowmaking here makes it one of the first to open each season and its proximity to their sister resort Soda Springs provides a great affordable alternative for families.

Boreal is usually the first to open in the Easter Sierras. It is easy to access if you can deal with the pass. Boreal prices are very affordable and I like it was night open runs.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

I absolutely love the convenience of Boreal! I grew up going here all throughout college, taking advantage of the student ride days! Now a days, I don’t see the value in spending a boatload of money on a bigger resort unless I’m going with a big group.
I find myself in the terrain parks nowadays, so spending my whole piggybank on a big resort... Moreadvanced snowboarder

I can see Boreal gets better each year at least for the last 3 years. Their terrain park is fun and beginner friendly. Their lifts pretty much open 100% for most time in recent years. The infrastructure in the park is also improved dramatically. They installed a new chair lift last year, and the RFID reader gate in 2020, so you do not need to show... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Really fun for beginners or advanced riders/skiers interested in the terrain park. Terrain park of all ability levels for riders to progress. Great learn to ride program - 3 lessons and you get a free pass. Nice open window lodge for family members to watch beginners/park riders. Good value overall. Plus, there's woodward for bad weather days. Easy... Moreadvanced skier

Zero stars for Thomas and the team at Boreal - was rude to and made my 12 year old daughter cry, took our money, wouldn't let us ski, and then wouldn't give us a refund:
I am a long time skier, and this year we decided to do the Take 3 Ride Free program at Boreal for my wife and our 4 kids who wanted to learn how to ski. They all took 1 lesson... Morebeginner skier

The resort is beginner friendly with many new rider friendly promotions like the take 3 lessons and get a season pass for free. The slopes tend to be more mellow but being the only resort that offers night riding makes up for it.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

If your flight lands in the afternoon and you wanna warm up for your Tahoe trip with some night skiing, this is the place to go. In size and feel it reminds me of a ski resort you'd find in northeast PA - Same sorta shorter, flatter runs, but with way better snow. Great for beginners and intermediates. And of course, how can you forget all the... Moreadvanced snowboarder
