Chamonix is a great base for your skiing adventures, Eight resorts within 20 minutes of the town. Many of these resorts are at high altitude. We skied Les Houches at 1842m. The runs are varied ~ Green, Blue, Red and Black and they are long! You can also snow shoe, ice cave and climb. The resorts are not packed and there is plenty of space for... More

Chamonix is the birth place of skiing and the energy of the entire town pulses like the heart of a skier shredding all of the vert the alps have to offer. With multiple resorts, skiers of all ages can find their ideal terrain. For the more advanced, Grand Montets offers the best big mountain resort skiing and a run from the Aguille Di Midi Tram... More

The Mecca of winter sports! Best skiing, mountaineering, alpine touring and anything else from easy to extreme! Don't ski during snowstorms. The visibility is too low because there is no trees high up the mountains. Very low visibility. Great town, gets lately a little too expensive though same with ski passes. Fleger and Breavant huge lines on... More

OMG! This granddaddy of French winter resorts on the Swiss/Italian border has enough ski terrain to keep you busy for weeks. The lifts are high and downright scary, topping out on high ridges way above the glaciers. The five independent ski areas make it too big to do the whole place in a week. And you must take one day to ski the famous Mer de... More

First going to Chamonix is going inside the mountains. Chamonix is not a ski resort, it's door to mountain. That is the reason why it is not the best family and beginner resort. Elevation is high, up to 12500 feet and conditions can change quickly. But if it is a good day it could be one of the best in your life !... More

In 2014/5 my family hired a chalet at Les Houches in the Chamonix valley for four months. While it was a very poor season by local standards, it was better than any season w have experienced in Australia & had real powder. The entire valley of 6 separate resorts was brilliant and totally set up for boarders and skiers. The season pass was very... More

Incredible resort, lives up to the reputation. Any passionate skier should have it on their bucket list. Incredible terrain. Large town that was there before the ski lifts so there is a lot of character and plenty to do. The downsides are that the town is not ski-in ski-out and the resort is really made up of 4 different ski areas. You need to get... More
