- Modest vertical
Overall
Less than an hour's drive from Traverse City, Crystal is one of the best mountains in Michigan with consistent Lake Effect snowfall and a variety of terrain – with a couple of bowl like trails. The après on weekends is unmissable and there's a wide range of non-skiing activities at the base.

It's a great mountain to ride the Backcountry and side country are amazing the snow is usually great and not the typical wet heavy snow that Washington is used to.
Weekends and holidays are literally the worst even with fresh powder most everything will be torn up by midday. There are so many people good luck being able to call or text or... Moreexpert snowboarder

Great family area, but lift ticket prices have sky rocketed lately and grooming/snow making has gone downhill. It's become all about the real estate and "resort experience" and less and less about the quality and affordability of the skiing. Pizza place about a mile down the road that was always a must stop. Some of my favorite ski memories happened at this resort.... Moreadvanced skier

Crystal mountain is an amazing mountain with knarly terrain. Still holding on to it's small mountain feel. But will be getting busier with time. The snow is amazing. Side country and back country options available. Terrain is veried but is an experts paradise. Hiking out to the king is always worth it. The season is starting and it's looking like...
