Whitefish Mountain Resort is on Big Mountain in the Flathead National Forest of northwest Montana. Whitefish is Montana’s original Big Mountain skiing (the ski area dates back to 1947), redubbed Whitefish Mountain Resort in 2007. We love Whitefish for the 3,000 ac of skiing off all sides of the spectacular 6,817 ft summit of Big Mountain, and the cool Wild West ski town 8 mi down the mountain road, at the edge of Glacier National Park and the largest freshwater lake in the west – Flathead Lake.

Amazing resort. Very expensive but an amazing experience in world class resort. The snow is amazing and best in the world but very expensive accommodation and food. It is also quite crowded as it is very popular but there are ways around it like specific days and times to go... Moreintermediate snowboarder

NO crowds, friendly people everywhere and also great skiing!
Hibernation House is the best place to stay, the staff is very nice and always helpful and can answer questions about place to eat in town and also gives great service.

We have skied Whitefish Mountain for 20+ years with our 7 children. It offers hills for all abilities. The village has everything we need within walking distance and the town is so much fun for all ages.... Moreintermediate skier

The amount of snow which creates the snow ghost .. trees covered with large amounts of snow is unique to this resort. Cheap lift tickets are acquireable making the resort very inexpensive, and the skiing was great also.
