I believe this is the closest Mountain to New York City. I used to take the Paragon Sport and the Blades bus trip from Broadway in the early 2000's frequently.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Spent some time skiing Hunter while in college, and always enjoyed the variety of the terrain that was available. Definitely some fun, challenging runs to be had, but some of the weekend crowds that would come up from New York City could put a damper on the day. I recommend trying Hunter on a weekday/ non-holiday to take better advantage of the... Moreexpert skier

All around amazing mountain. The new western facing face is awesome! Overall a great mountain for day to day rides. The snow quality is great and they receive a lot of snow on a regular basis. I’ve ridden there shortly after thanksgiving.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Local NY Mt. on the peak pass. Nice small to medium terrain park depending on the day. Main lift is relatively quick and they have a decent portion of the mountain for beginners to learn. Great Mt for a day trip!... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Hunter Mountain has so much vertical for an East Coast mountain! Hunter has been constantly improving customer experience by adding terrain, better facilities, and faster lifts. However Hunter gets a lot of traffic on the weekends and can be pretty icy because of this.... Moreexpert skier

For a quick day trip its about as good as it gets from NYC, but buyer beware, this is where east coast jerry's breed. No one is safe from the crowds (especially on weekends) but when it snows its a really fun mountain. Steep and technical for a small mountain and definitely a fun little town to hang after a long day.... Moreexpert skier
