Overall
Grand Targhee gets little fanfare or fame, but it should – for its frequent powder, fantastic Teton scenery, and friendly people. Targhee opened for skiing in 1969, just three years after nearby Jackson Hole – an hour’s drive away. Grand Targhee, or 'the Ghee' affectionately labeled by locals, is one of the smallest big ski resorts, with 2,602 ac of wide-open terrain and plentiful snow- over 500 in annually, but no fancy resort hotels at the base. Did we mention Wyoming's only cat skiing? 602 ac of powder skiing reached by snow cat.

Grand Targhee is a truly magical place! Countless lines to choose from and with the wind they get, the terrain is changing. Powder hounds love this place! Mary’s nipple is an easy hike with almost guaranteed low turns every time. Their backcountry access isn’t huge, but there’s countless short lines to choose from. From dropping cliffs up to 100+... This place is definitely grand with its great views and spacious runs - some are wider than the ridiculous ones on sun Valley! Wind can be a problem though and they had to shout down partalley when I was there!... Moreadvanced skier

Where else can you get powder days days after it last snowed?! Fantastic tree skiing. Some easy-ish hike-to. Now that summer bike trails are available, this is a year round resort.... Moreexpert skier

Not an easy place to get to, destination location, well worth the trip. My first time there we were staying in Jackson Hole with a lack of snow. Somebody suggested a bus trip to Targhee, because they were getting dumped on. That was an understatement. The riding was so good we stayed. I have been back a few times. Being a destination location, we... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Just amazing! Best snow, not expensive, but not easy lodging for low deals. Lots of powder snow days and great variety of trails to ski all days! Nice backountry tours too. Worth the visit.... Moreadvanced skier

Grand Targhee is your soulful hippy friend, not like the brawny rock star resort over the hill. Cool laid back vibe, excellent terrain and powder to kill or die for. ... Moreexpert snowboarder

Looking for Jackson terrain without the crowds? Go to Targhee! This will probably change in the next few years so hurry up and go! Also, if you want to find some crazy in bound drops, this is the place to be. Gnarliest cliff band I have ever seen! The upstairs bar and restaurant have pretty rad daily deals and the taco night is something you want... Moreexpert snowboarder

Light, dry blower powder and plenty of it all winter ! Light crowds here and a fun variety of terrain for all ability levels. If you get here on a clear day the views of the tetons are amazing .
